The Belfast Giants are pleased to announce the signing of young Scottish forward and GB international Mark Garside to a two-year contract. Garside comes to Belfast after having spent four seasons with the Edinburgh Capitals.
2009/2010 season was a personal best for Garside, having been named to the Great Britain national team for the first time. Mark set career highs for goals (15) and points (41). He was named top Young British player in 2008-2009.
Doug Christiansen commented, “I am ecstatic about bringing Mark to Belfast. Mark is one of the top young players in the EIHL. He works extremely hard and can play in all situations. He centered our first line last season in Edinburgh and really improved. After I learned he did not plan on returning to Edinburgh, I made sure to try to lure him to the Giants. I am thrilled he accepted our offer!”
Garside on signing for the Giants, “Coming to Belfast is great opportunity for me as a hockey player. After playing for the Edinburgh Capitals for four years I feel that I have developed to a point where I had to leave to further my career. Playing for a team that aspires to win the league and playoffs every year is a challenge that I could not refuse. The Giants are a top professional organisation with great fans and I can’t wait for the season to start.”
Mark is also an accomplished song writer with his debut album, Moments in Time, available to listen to and purchase on www.markgarsidemusic.com
