Kevin Saurette Previews Coventry Blaze Clash

Saturday night is hockey night in Belfast once again as the Stena Line Belfast Giants host the Coventry Blaze at the Odyssey Arena, face-off 7pm. The current Giants top scorer is Kevin Saurette, posting 13 goals and 19 assists for a total of 32 points in 27 games played so far in this Elite League season and Saurette is determined to keep the Giants title charge alive this weekend with tough games against Coventry on Saturday and in Dundee on Sunday.

The only team to pick up a regulation win at the Odyssey Arena against the Giants this season is the Coventry Blaze, however Saurette isn’t thinking back to that defeat, “For the most part, that loss is not in our minds, that was a long time ago. Though that does show us that they can be a pretty good team when all things are clicking for them.”

On that night, Mike Zacharias in the Coventry net shutout the Giants in a 5-0 win for the Blaze which helped to kick-start their season, “He always seems to play well against us. It’s important for us to get pucks to the net and for us to get to him early if we can,” said Saurette.

Saturday’s game at the Odyssey Arena will be the Giants fourth straight home game following 8 away games in-a-row and Saurette along with his teammates is glad to spend more time in Belfast and play in front of the Giants fans, “It’s always nice to get home, the Odyssey is a great atmosphere to play in. It’s nice to be with your families and just come to the rink and not worry about travelling after that road trip.”
