Nathan Robinson Signs For The Stena Line Belfast Giants

The Stena Line Belfast Giants are pleased to announce the signing of Nathan Robinson for the remainder of the 2014/15 Elite League season. The forward, from Scarborough in Canada, will arrive in Belfast on Tuesday, taking to the ice with his teammates for the first time at Wednesday’s practice session and will go straight into the lineup on Saturday when the Giants clash with the Blaze in the first of two games in as many nights in Coventry.

The 33 year old brings a wealth of experience to the Giants in a career that includes NHL games for the Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins as well as 278 AHL games and 381 games in the DEL. Indeed, Robinson has previous experience of the Elite League, having began this current season with the Nottingham Panthers, signed on a temporary contract due to the side’s Champions Hockey League campaign.

Robinson, who will wear #91, will be expected to bring both speed and offence to the Giants lineup in the business end of the Elite League season and he is no stranger to winning – having claimed the DEL Championship for three consecutive seasons, first with Mannheim in 2007, followed by two in-a-row with Eisbaren Berlin in 2008 and 2009.

Steve Thornton, Stena Line Belfast Giants Head of Hockey Operations, had this to say on his latest signing,

“We need help to create more offence and Nathan will add creativity to our lineup. Earlier this season against the Nottingham Panthers, he was the most dangerous player on the ice. Robinson is a left shot, a good skater who is proven and will fit right in to our locker room.”

Nathan Robinson will make his home debut for the Giants at the Odyssey Arena on Saturday 21st February against the Edinburgh Capitals face-off 7pm, followed by another clash in Belfast, this time with the Sheffield Steelers on Sunday 22nd February face-off 4pm. Good seats are still available online at www.ticketmaster.ie or from the Odyssey Arena Box Office in person or by calling (028) 9073 9074.
