The Stena Line Belfast Giants opened their double header in Edinburgh with an emphatic 7-2 win over the Capitals. Goals from Derrick Walser, Kris Beeck (2), James Desmarais, Darryl Lloyd, Mike Radja and Michael Forney gave the Giants a vital road win in the first of back-to-back games in the Scottish capital.
Derrick Walser opened the scoring in the first few minutes of the game with Johnston equalising two minutes later for the Capitals. Kris Beech’s first goal of the game gave the Giants the lead once again at the end of the first period.
James Desmarais and Darryl Lloyd extended the Giants lead to 4-1 by the end of forty minutes.
Mike Radja made it 5-1 before Rutherford cut the visitors lead to 5-2 in the 45th minute however Michael Forney and Kris Beech saw the Giants move out of sight in the third period and complete a 7-2 win.
