The Stena Line Belfast Giants fell to a 4-2 defeat against the Sheffield Steelers on Saturday. Three unanswered goals in the third period saw the Steelers claim the two Elite League points and back-to-back wins over the Giants.
Craig peacock stunned the home crowd, giving the Giants the lead after only 12 seconds – pouncing on a defensive mistake for his 16th goal of the season.
Little over one minute into the second period – it was 2-0, as Darryl Lloyd scored on the powerplay, assisted by David Rutherford and Derrick Walser. However, with only a few minuets left on the clock in the middle period – Jonathan Phillips scored shorthanded to open the scoring for the home side.
Guillaume Desbiens made it 2-2 at 42:18 wth Tyler Mosienko getting the go-ahead goal for the Steelers with a powerplay strike at 47:57. As the Giants went in search of an equaliser – Jason Hewitt scored an empty net goal to complete the win for the hosts.
