The Stena Line Belfast Giants will begin the 2017/18 season in Challenge Cup action on the road to the Dundee Stars and Fife Flyers before welcoming newcomers Guildford Flames to The SSE Arena for our home opener on Saturday 9th September.
Traveling fans will again enjoy the famous Belfast double header weekends against our conference rivals – the Cardiff Devils, Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers, as well as against the Coventry Blaze.
Head of Hockey Operations Steve Thornton attended the Elite League fixtures meeting:
“We are happy with the schedule this year and the number of weekend dates that we have secured.”
“We have a tough run of road games leading up to Christmas that will play a big part in our teams success. We want to take advantage of some big crowds and turn the SSE Arena into a fortress.”
Preparing for his first season behind the Giants bench, Head Coach Adam Keefe is also exited about the number of weekend home games:
“I am real happy that we have secured so many Saturday home games. The atmosphere on Saturday night’s at the SSE is always great.”
“I am confident in the group of players we have and everyone will have their work boots on. We will need to be road warriors, particularly in November and December, but this gives us the opportunity to set ourselves up nicely going into the home stretch.”
Game tickets will be available in the coming days on the official website and it still is not too late to sign up for a 2017/18 Belfast Giants Season Ticket.
With upwards of 30 home games at The SSE Arena it wont be long before action packed ice hockey returns to Belfast and the quest for silverware begins.
