Weekend Preview: Giants On The Road In Cardiff & Coventry

The Stena Line Belfast Giants go on the road once again this weekend with back-to-back Elite League games. First up on Saturday is the Giants first clash of the season against the reigning champions, the Cardiff Devils – face-off 7pm. Sunday sees the Giants take on the Coventry Blaze at the SkyDome, face-off 5:15pm.

Belfast will look to end a three game losing run following consecutive defeats against Nottingham, Edinburgh and Manchester after impressive back-to-back wins over the Sheffield Steelers.

The Giants enter the weekend short on numbers with Dustin Johner, Stephen Murphy and Jim Vandermeer all missing through injury and Jonathan Ferland suspended for both games by the Elite League’s Department of Player Safety.

Belfast currently lie 6th in the league standings, tied on six points with the Coventry Blaze. The Cardiff Devils sit in 3rd position with 8 points from 5 games played.

Saturday’s game in Wales will also count towards the Erhardt Conference standings with the winner guaranteeing top spot after the weekend’s action.
