The Stena Line Belfast Giants fell to the Fife Flyers on Saturday night in Belfast. Peter LeBlanc netted the game winning goal midway through the second period and gave the visitors an important away win.
Saturday’s win for the Flyers sees the Scottish side move onto 66 points and are now joint third in the Elite league standings along with the Giants.
Flyers Cancel Out Sylvestre Strike
It was the hosts who would strike first in Saturday’s encounter when Spiro Goulakos picked out Sebastien Sylvestre who fired past Jordan Marr in the Flyers net at 11:43.
Charlie Mosey equalised for the visitors at 14:52, assisted by Dan Correale, before Shayne Stockton snatched a Flyers go-ahead goal, assisted by Danick Gauthier and Jim Jorgensen at 17:10.
Riley Slapshot Pulls Giants Back
Peter LeBlanc’s cool finish, assisted by Jim Jorgensen, at 30:38 gave the Flyers a two goal cushion.
Blair Riley’s slapshot, assisted by Kevin Raine and Colin Shields, brought the Giants to within one of the Flyers at 34:06.
Mosey Goal Seals Flyers Road Win
Charlie Mosey made it 4-2 at 50:32 when he scored unassisted on a breakaway to give the Flyers a shorthanded goal and restore their two goal cushion.
Russ Moyer rounded off the Flyers win with an empty net finish at 59:59.
