Training Camp for the Stena Line Belfast Giants begins on Monday as the 2018/19 team take to the ice for the first time. The Giants practice rink in Dundonald will host the opening week of preparations before moving to The SSE Arena next week ahead of the back-to-back exhibition games against the Manitoba Bisons.
As well as the Elite League title, Challenge Cup and Playoffs – the 2018/19 season gives Adam Keefe and his team an additional opportunity to win a trophy. That comes in the form of the International Ice-Hockey Federation’s Continental Cup thanks to the Giants 2017/18 Challenge Cup success.

Adam Keefe will lead his team into the Continental Cup Semi-Final stage, hosted in Belfast, Thursday 15th – Saturday 17th November. The Giants will face Croatia’s Medvescak Zagreb, GKS Katowice of Poland and the winner of Group B which takes place in October. The top two sides will advance to the Final stage in January in a location still to be decided.

“Our goal this season is that we want to win,” said Coach Keefe ahead of the opening day of training camp. “There are four trophies up for grabs this season and we want to be selfish and win every one of them.”
“It is a particularly exciting year with the Continental Cup because of our Challenge Cup success last year. That is something a little different and I know first-hand that our players will enjoy a tournament outside of our league and trying their hand against some of Europe’s best.”
The Giants take on the Manitoba Bisons Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August at The SSE Arena, face-off 7pm and 4pm respectively. Tickets for both exhibition games are available online from Ticketmaster as well as from the Arena Box Office in person or by calling (028) 9073 9074.
