5 Reasons Not to Miss the Belfast Giants Double Header This Weekend
Bring a mate, bring a date, bring the whole fam. An action-packed Giants game is a great night out guaranteed for all. Here's five reasons why you shouldn't miss this weekend's double header...
A STORM IS BREWING
Not only is it a double header weekend for the Belfast Giants with 4 league points up for grabs, it's Manchester Storm's Belfast debut at The SSE Arena, Belfast this season in a double Premier Sports Elite League clash, facing the Giants on home ice this Saturday and Sunday.
Whether you're a hard core fan or new to hockey, there's no better time to be a part of a buzzing crowd, cheering on the Belfast Giants at home.
GIANT GIVEAWAYS
Be in with the chance of winning some fantastic prizes, with a Shirt Off the Back competition, Chuck-A-Puck game and 50/50 lottery raffles on the night.
WIN your very own Belfast Giants jersey in the Shirt off the Back competition! TWO game worn jerseys worn by specific team members on the ice on Saturday and Sunday will be up for grabs. Simply purchase your raffle tickets, priced £2 per ticket, on the concourse area on each game night to be in with a chance to win.
WIN a GIANT cash prize this weekend in the Giants’ 50/50 lottery. Tickets for 50/50 are on sale when doors open for £1 each; the more tickets sold, the larger the prize pot becomes. Watch the jackpot grow on screen throughout the game!
Chuck your (foam) pucks onto the ice during the intermission right after the second period in our Chuck-a-Puck game. Chuck-a-Pucks will be on sale on the night for £1 each.
The closest three pucks to centre-ice will win:
- First prize - Trip for two to Scotland thanks to Stena Line
- Second prize - Giants jersey signed by the team
- Third prize - Family pass (two adults & two kids) to a home game of your choice!
GOOD MOOD FOOD
There's no shortage of choice at The SSE Arena, Belfast when it comes to feeding your appetite. From chicken burgers to beef burgers, nachos to popcorn, plus much more - food can be purchased from kiosks at concourse level. Not to mention, this weekend there's a brand new menu addition to the menu - a delicious crispy chicken flatbread with asian slaw!
Thirsty? Grab a pint of Heineken or an ice cold Pepsi, or perhaps warm up with a toasty hot chocolate.
INTERMISSION ACTIVITIES
While the intermission breaks are ideal for toilet breaks or snack runs, you're not going to want to leave your seat when our Subway Titanic Quarter cannon (that actually looks like a Giant Subway sandwich) makes an appearance on the ice. Make some noise to get cannon operator's attention and try and catch a sub as they're launched into the crowd. One of the most talked about game night activities, this is probably the most American thing you'll see outside of America!
Ever heard of bubble hockey? You have now. Watch (or play) as contestants take to the ice in inflatable body zorbs during our first intermission. A real crowd pleaser, you're guaranteed a good giggle, whether you're watching, or taking part.
Visit the fan zone on The Bridge to find out more about the history of hockey in Belfast, Giant wins over the years and much more.
CATCHY TUNES
Sing along or bust your best moves to our GIANT warm-up playlists and in-game anthems. Watch out for the dance cam, you might appear on the huge screens during our intermissions (if your moves make the cut)!
Also keep an eye out for Giants' mascot Finn McCool - he's been known to bust a few moves on game night and can usually be spotted throwing shapes around the Arena.
