Belfast Giants Confirm Re-Signing of David Goodwin
The Stena Line Belfast Giants can confirm the re-signing of 2022/23 treble-winning captain David Goodwin for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
First arriving in Belfast for the 2019/20 season, 32-year-old Goodwin has notched over 200 appearances across four seasons for the Giants. Having departed for Spanish side CH Jaca at the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, the St. Louis-born forward re-joined the Giants midway through the 2023/24 season, recording 28 total points in 31 games.
Adam Keefe, Head Coach of the Belfast Giants, said: “It’s great to bring Goody back to Belfast again. His leadership on and off the ice embodies what it means to be a Giant, and throughout his time in Belfast, he always stepped up and was willing to do whatever it took to win. Goody is a professional through and through, and his re-signing is a great boost.”
During his four spells with the Giants, fan favourite Goodwin recorded more than 230 points and returns to Belfast with a wealth of experience. In a professional career spanning over 350 games, Goodwin has garnered experience with teams from North America, Finland, Sweden, and Poland.
Commenting on his return to the Belfast Giants, David Goodwin said: “I am delighted to be returning to Belfast. I am grateful to Adam [Keefe] and Steve [Thornton] for the opportunity to continue to compete for the Giants and represent this great city. I look forward to working hard to help bring more success to the club.”
The Belfast Giants return to Elite League action on Saturday 18 January, taking on the Sheffield Steelers at The SSE Arena. Tickets are available to purchase here.
