Giant Monster Dash Challenge!
As part of The Odyssey Trust’s ongoing support and fundraising efforts for Blake McCaughey, a special ‘Monster Dash’ challenge will take place at the Belfast Giants’ home game against the Cardiff Devils on Saturday 11 November.
Between 5:30PM and 8PM in the foyer and various locations around the bowl, Robert Fitzpatrick, chief executive officer of The Odyssey Trust and Paul McMahon, chief operating officer of The Odyssey Trust, will both be leading the 40-mile cycle using exercise bikes, alongside members of staff. All money raised through game night collections a dedicated GoFundMe page will be donated towards sending Blake and his family to Boston for the trip of a lifetime.
15-year-old Blake, who was born with two chromosome deletions and abnormal muscle fibres, lives with a rare genetic disorder – irreversible intestinal failure – which has led him to being designated nil by mouth, meaning that he is unable to consume any form of food, drink or medication via his mouth.
Robert Fitzpatrick, chief executive officer of The Odyssey Trust, said: “Blake embodies what it means to be a Giant. His bravery and unwavering positivity are nothing short of inspirational. There’s no doubt that it’s been a very difficult few years for Blake, so it fills me with an immense amount of pride that The Odyssey Trust – alongside the support of the Teal Army – can come together to support a very special member of the Giants family.
“I would urge all Belfast Giants fans to pack The SSE Arena, Belfast on Saturday 11 November and get behind this latest fundraising challenge for a truly remarkable young man.”
