Preston Joins Giants for 2023/24 Season
The Stena Line Belfast Giants are pleased to announce the signing of 25-year-old forward, Quinn Preston ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Hailing from Trenton, Michigan, Preston joins the Giants after spending the 2022/23 season with ECHL side Wichita Thunder, recording an impressive 61 points in 62 games. During the 2021/22 season, Preston also spent time with fellow ECHL side Toledo Walleye, before making the move to Kansas-based Thunder.
Having played over 100 NCAA Division I games for the Ohio State University Buckeyes between 2018 and 2022, Preston was selected as alternate captain for the Buckeyes in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, returning 33 goals and 39 assists for 72 points throughout his Ohio State career. Prior to icing for the Buckeyes, Preston spent two years with the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the United States Hockey League (USHL) - the top ranked junior ice hockey league sanctioned by USA Hockey, notching 90 points in 105 games.
When asked about the signing of Quinn Preston, head coach Adam Keefe said: “Quinn is an exciting signing for us. He’s a young player who had breakaway speed and a great shot. Coming off a very good season last year in his first as a pro, we expect Quinn to have an even better season Belfast.
“He is a good friend of Jeff Baum and comes to us with great references, not only as a player but as a person too. He will fit well into the culture here in Belfast and I look forward to working with him.”
Commenting on joining the Belfast Giants, Quinn Preston said: “I can’t wait to head to Belfast and join up with the players and coaching staff. It goes without saying but the Giants’ reputation precedes them and it’s a great place to play hockey and develop new skills. I’m excited to meet the rest of the guys on the roster and to hit the ice for the first time at The SSE Arena, Belfast in front of a no-doubt loud and proud fanbase.”
Belfast Giants 2023/24 pre-season and Champions Hockey League (CHL) home fixtures are on sale now, with Elite Ice Hockey League and Challenge Cup home games to go on sale in the coming weeks. Tickets are available for purchase here.
